College Athletics Department Honors Student Athletes and Coaches with Banquet

Florence-Darlington Technical College's Office of Student Activities and Athletics honored the student athletes, their coaches and families Monday night, May 7, 2007 with the first annual Tech Athletics Banquet and awards night.

FDTC President Dr. Charles Gould hosted the event that recognized the athletes for their accomplishments on the field and classroom.

Stinger men's baseball player Brian Busbee won the Most Valuable Player Award. Coaches Award honors were shared by Matt Keen and Mark Simo with Adam Lawrimore picking up the most improved GPA award and Michael Lewis winning the Pitcher award. Ryan Toniolo won the Academic award.

Women Stinger's Head Coach Heber Watson presented the freshman Athlete of the Year to Ashlee Evans. Anne Hill was named best defensive player with Kayla Munnerlyn taking offensive honors. Pitcher Shannon Mitchell was named most valuable player and Jennifer Taylor won most improved player. Alana Woodard took home the Women Stinger's Academic Award.

Dr. Gould wrapped up the banquet and award night by presenting the NJC-double A Region 10 Coach of the Year plaque to Coach Watson.
