Law and Liabilities for Private Security

This course is designed to provide an understanding of the civil liabilities that can result from a pursuit of security functions and duties in the private sector. The student will gain knowledge and awareness that can be applied to prevent errors and lower the risk of civil liability. Plaintiff and defense strategies in premise security claims will be covered from the perspective of the expert witness, including best practices in forensic methodology.

These train-the-trainer courses were designed by the Security and Justice Institute and SLED for Security companies who want to train their officers as instructors. The student and their employer must both be registered with SLED to receive Instructor Course Certification. Individuals with security interest may enroll; however, completion of the course does not provide SLED registration or certification.
