Georgia-Pacific donated $5,000 to the Florence-Darlington Technical College Educational Foundation to help support the college’s Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) program.
“On behalf of Georgia-Pacific (GP) and our Clarendon OSB (oriented strand board) plant leadership team, we are very pleased to continue our support of the Electronics Engineering Technology program provided by Florence-Darlington Technical College”, GP Human Resource Business Partner Jamey Gowdy said. "Education and workforce development are vital priorities at GP, and we believe that investments in organizations like Florence-Darlington Technical College can have a profound impact on the future economic success of our communities.”
He added, “We also want to express our appreciation to the teachers and staff at Florence-Darlington Technical College for the dedication and guidance they provide to students who are preparing for their future."
The FDTC EET program uses classroom and laboratory experiences to provide students with applied technical skills such as building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing applied electronic circuits and equipment. Students accumulate a variety of academic and experiential knowledge, which will prepare them for careers in a variety of manufacturing industries.
“We are very thankful to our community partners, like GP, who share our vision for student success and workforce development,” FDTC President Dr. Jermaine Ford said. “Donations like this help us to support our students by giving them opportunities on equipment and with tools that they will be using whenever they reach the job market.”
FDTC encourages anyone interested in the EET program to reach out to its Admissions office at 843-661-8289, by text at 843-351-1940, or by email: admissions@fdtc.edu.
