McFarland to join FDTC as new Director of Admissions

Florence-Darlington Technical College has hired Antonio McFarland to lead the college's admissions department as Director of Admissions.

“I am honored and excited to be selected to serve as the new director of admissions,” McFarland said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such great administrators, staff, faculty, and students at FDTC.”

McFarland comes to FDTC with years of experience in multiple leadership roles in higher education, including Assistant Director of Admissions at Claflin University, USC Beaufort, and USC Sumter. Most recently, he served as the Associate Director of Admissions at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga, where he has managed operations systems; overseen special projects; and hired, trained, and managed staff with great success.

In his previous roles, McFarland has implemented tools to increase efficiency of application review, including more supportive infrastructure, training, building partnerships and utilized data to drive programming and partnership efforts. He also directed initiatives to attract, recruit and enroll a talented and diverse student population in support of the university’s vision and goals.

"As a first-generation college student and advocate of underserved populations, access and success to students has always been my passion and now I get to continue that passion in an area that has given me so much at an early age,” he said.

McFarland, a Darlington, S.C. native, graduated from Claflin University and has a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration with a specialization in Enrollment Management from Capella University. He also has a professional certificate from Ruffalo-Noel Levitz in Enrollment Management.

McFarland began his role at FDTC on May 20^th.
