Reivers stung by Flo-Dar 10-4
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Eight-seed Florence-Darlington used a six-run first to top three-seed Iowa Western 10-4 in game four of the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series.
The Stingers (52-10, 1-0 JUCO) opened the six-run first on an RBI-triple by Ethan Plyler. Rom Kellis followed with a two-run home run. Later in the inning, Tyler Kamerer and Jay Douglas hit singles scoring runs before Iowa Western (54-9, 0-1 JUCO) came to bat.
In the second, Iowa Western got on the board on an RBI single by Easton Mains. Florence-Darlington would score again in the third and fourth innings. TJ Anderson hit a two-RBI single in the third while Devin Mitchell knocked in a run off a double in the fourth. Tyler Kamerer later grounded out, scoring Rom Kellis.
Iowa Western would score a run in each of the fifth, sixth, and seventh inning. AJ Singer hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Reese Harmon also hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth while Jaxon Sorenson groundout in the seventh to score Brayden Smith. The Reivers would not threaten in the eighth or ninth and fell 10-4.
Florence-Darlington advances to play Southern Nevada on Monday at 9:00 am while Iowa Western moves to an elimination game against Northwest Florida on Sunday at 7:00 pm.
