Program overview

The course covers the safety, equipment and skills used in the Gas Metal Arc Welding process which is also called wire welding. Fillet welds are made to visual criteria in several positions. You will learn to set up Electric MIG Welding Equipment, select the proper polarity, select the proper amperage, wire selection, metal preparation, hand-eye-hand coordination, and control molten puddle out of position. With this type of welding, you will weld stringer beads on carbon steel plates. You will learn to weld Flat and Vertical. You will also be doing T-joints in flat, vertical and overhead position on 3/8" carbon steel plates.
