Manufacturing MIG (GMAW & FCAW)

Program Type: Corporate & Workforce Development

Program Level: CE

Program Contact: chris.revell

Program overview

Metal inert gas, or MIG, welding, is one of the easiest welding processes to learn. In MIG welding, steel wire from a spool is fed through a liner and out of the tip of a MIG gun. The tip of the gun is electrically charged, and melts the wire for welding. Also known as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), MIG welding applications are low cost welding processes that can be used to weld all types of commercially used metals and alloys.
