Program overview

In this course you will be taught how to set up TIG equipment, select the proper polarity, select the proper amperage, tungsten and filler metal section, metal preparation, hand-eye-hand coordination, and control molten puddle out of position. TIG welders weld mostly stainless steel. Both hands are used. It is mainly done in the medical field, food industries and places where areas must maintain cleanliness. General Electric uses a lot of these welders. TIG welders work with aluminum and stainless steel. Open butt welds are made to visual criteria in several positions. You will learn safety, proper use and set up of equipment, polarity for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Open butt in 1G, 2G, and 3G plates. Once you have completed all positions you may take a plate test to enter Pipe Welding.
