Professional Licensure and Certification

Programs at Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) are designed to meet South Carolina's licensure and certification requirements. However, licensure and certification requirements vary widely across states and U.S. territories. As such, the curriculum of a program may fully meet or not meet educational requirements for licensure or certification outside South Carolina.

It is important to note that successful program completion alone does not guarantee licensure or certification. Many licensing boards require additional steps, such as passing professional examinations, background checks, completing specific work experience, or fingerprinting. Ultimately, each state’s licensing board determines an individual’s eligibility for licensure when the application is submitted.

FDTC evaluates whether its programs meet licensure or certification requirements outside South Carolina and provides this information in program licensure disclosures. Students considering a program that typically leads to licensure or certification are strongly encouraged to review these disclosures. Programs are categorized as either "Meets" or "Does Not Meet" the educational and accreditation requirements for specific states or territories.
