Florence-Darlington Technical College Appoints Dr. Rhonda Johns as Vice President of Workforce & Continuing Education
Florence, S.C. – Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Rhonda Johns as the new Vice President of Workforce & Continuing Education. Dr. Johns brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in workforce development to this crucial role.
“We are very excited to have Dr. Johns, and her vast experience join our team here at FDTC,” said Dr. Jermaine Ford, President of FDTC. “With her addition, we continue to put the right leaders in the right place so that we can serve our students and provide them with the best educational opportunities.”
Dr. Johns, who has dedicated over a decade to workforce development within the South Carolina Technical College System, will be instrumental in advancing FDTC’s workforce and continuing education programs. Most recently, she served as the Dean of Corporate & Community Education at Spartanburg Community College (SCC) since 2018. Prior to her tenure at SCC, Dr. Johns held various positions at the Technical College of the Lowcountry, including Satellite Campus Director and Business Manager of Continuing Education.
In her new role, Dr. Johns aims to enhance FDTC’s offerings by providing high-quality, short-term training designed to meet the workforce needs of the Pee Dee region. “I could not be more excited to work with President Dr. Jermaine Ford and his team to expand Florence-Darlington Technical College's workforce and continuing education programs,” Dr. Johns stated. “It is my goal to offer high-quality, short-term training that will meet the workforce needs of the Pee Dee region and give our students the skills needed to earn a living wage without the burden of debt.”
Dr. Johns’ background is rich in both higher education and the business sector. Before transitioning to academia, she accumulated over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing within the financial services industry, holding senior positions such as Regional Vice President for John Hancock, State Street Research, and ING.
Dr. Johns holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota in educational administration with a specialization in adult and higher education, and a Doctorate of Education with a concentration in educational leadership and administration from City University of Seattle.
FDTC is confident that Dr. Johns’ leadership will drive significant advancements in workforce and continuing education, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the evolving job market.
