FDTC Dental Hygiene to host annual free children’s dental care event
Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) is pleased to announce its annual "Little Smiles" free children’s dental care event on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in honor of National Children’s Oral Health Month. The event will take place at FDTC’s Health Sciences campus, located at 320 West Cheves Street in Florence, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Children will receive free dental care, including dental assessments, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants. This event aims to promote the importance of oral health among children while providing vital services to the community.
“We are thrilled to host this event once again and provide much-needed dental care to children in our community,” FDTC’s Dental Hygiene and Assisting Program Director Dr. Alicia L. Johnston said. “Not only does this outreach event serve as an invaluable learning experience for our students, but it also reinforces our commitment to fostering a culture of community service. It is a privilege to make a positive impact on children’s oral health.”
The event will feature participation from both first- and second-year students in the Dental Hygiene and Expanded-Duty Dental Assisting programs, who will gain hands-on experience while making a difference in the lives of local families.
“This event embodies the spirit of giving back and prepares our students for their future roles as healthcare providers,” Johnston added. “We hope to inspire a lifelong dedication to community service in all of our students.”
