FDTC President appointed to SACSCOC Board of Trustees
Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) proudly announces that President Dr. Jermaine Ford has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), a significant honor that reflects both his leadership and the college’s continued progress.
This appointment represents a major milestone for FDTC, signaling a strong and positive trajectory following past accreditation challenges prior to Dr. Ford’s arrival in October 2021. Under his leadership, the college has made measurable strides in strengthening academic quality, institutional effectiveness, and student success.
“Florence-Darlington Technical College continues to demonstrate that we are moving in the right direction,” FDTC Area Commission Chairman Clint Moore said. “Dr. Ford’s nomination to the SACSCOC Board reflects the tremendous progress our college has made and is a testament to the hard work that he and all the Florence-Darlington Technical College staff have put towards the advancement of our programs and offerings to our students.”
SACSCOC serves as the accrediting body for more than 780 institutions across the United States and internationally, ensuring colleges and universities meet rigorous standards of academic quality, student success, and continuous improvement. Its Board of Trustees guides the organization’s work and oversees the accreditation process, while the College Delegate Assembly elects board members from accredited institutions to represent the region.
Dr. Ford joins the South Carolina delegation, contributing his expertise to help shape accreditation standards and support innovation across higher education. His appointment places FDTC among institutions helping lead the future of academic excellence and accountability.
“I am honored to serve on the SACSCOC Board of Trustees and to represent both Florence-Darlington Technical College and the state of South Carolina,” Dr. Ford said. “This opportunity reflects the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff, who have remained focused on student success and workforce development. Our recent accreditation review results demonstrate our commitment to excellence, and I look forward to contributing to the advancement of higher education across the region.”
FDTC’s most recent 10-year accreditation review further underscores this progress. The college demonstrated strong alignment with SACSCOC standards, reflecting its ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest levels of quality and integrity.
“I am thrilled Dr. Ford has joined the SACSCOC Board of Trustees,” SACSCOC President Dr. Stephen L. Pruitt said. “I am excited to work with Dr. Ford and the rest of the SACSCOC Board of Trustees as we continue to position ourselves as an innovation leader while focusing on maintaining a high level of rigor and quality."
Through a peer-driven process grounded in evidence and integrity, SACSCOC supports institutions in strengthening outcomes, building public trust, and effectively serving students. This appointment also reflects FDTC’s transformation and forward momentum.
