CDL for Lineman
Program overview
Currently employed electric utility linemen or people enrolled in an eligible lineman training program may qualify for up to $5,000 in scholarship assistance through the SC NEXUS Resilient Careers Grant. This program is designed to upskill linemen through an approved CDL training program. Classes are held on Saturday and Sunday for eight weeks on the Main Campus in Florence. To be considered for SC NEXUS Resilient Careers grant, applicants must: . Be a current resident of South Carolina . Be currently enrolled in or have completed a line worker training program . Be employed by or sponsored through an electrical utility company . Provide a letter on company letterhead confirming their employment and verifying that they are currently enrolled in, or have completed, a line worker training program Let us help you gain the experience you need to be on the road with your Class A Commercial Driver's License. Our program includes a combination of in-classroom and behind-the-wheel training that will prepare graduates to test for their CDL-A. Students who enroll in FDTC's CDL Training program will gain skills in the areas of: . Vehicle inspections . Defensive driving . Range maneuvers . Motor carrier safety regulations . Trip planning . Cargo handling . Size/weight laws . General maintenance procedures . Hours of service . Accident prevention
