FDTC announces 2026 Commencement Ceremony

Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) is proud to announce its 2026 Commencement Ceremony, celebrating one of the most significant graduating classes in the college’s history. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 14, at the Florence Center, with the graduate processional beginning promptly at 4 p.m.

This year, FDTC will honor 983 undergraduate students who have earned associate degrees, diplomas, or certificates across a broad range of academic and technical programs. In addition, the college will recognize 616 individuals who have successfully completed corporate workforce training certificates, underscoring FDTC’s ongoing commitment to workforce development and its responsiveness to the evolving needs of industries throughout the Pee Dee region.

“This year’s graduates represent determination, resilience, and the power of opportunity,” FDTC President Dr. Jermaine Ford said. “They are not only earning credentials, but also launching careers, advancing their education, and making meaningful contributions to their communities. We wish them continued success as they take the next steps in their journey.”

A standout feature of this year’s commencement is the outstanding achievement of FDTC’s dual enrollment students. A total of 61 high school students will graduate with college credentials while simultaneously earning their high school diplomas. Among them, 26 students have earned associate degrees, one student has completed a diploma, and 34 students have earned certificates—an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects both ambition and academic excellence at an early stage.

Serving as the keynote speaker for the 2026 Commencement Ceremony will be Jay Hinesley, Chief Executive Officer of the Pee Dee Division of MUSC Health. In his role, Hinesley provides executive leadership for MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, Black River Medical Center, Marion Medical Center, and the Leatherman Behavioral Care Pavilion, overseeing strategic growth, operational performance, and patient-centered care across the region.

A respected healthcare executive and community leader, Hinesley also serves as Chairman of the Board for HopeHealth, supporting access to comprehensive healthcare for underserved and rural communities. His leadership has earned him recognition as one of the Pee Dee Region’s Top 50 Most Influential leaders, along with the prestigious MUSC Health Stewart Smith Award for exceptional leadership, integrity, and commitment to service.

The 2026 Commencement Ceremony stands as a powerful reflection of FDTC’s mission to transform lives through education, workforce development, and student success. As graduates cross the stage, they carry with them not only credentials but also the skills, confidence, and vision needed to shape the future.

FDTC proudly congratulates the Class of 2026 and celebrates their journey as they take the next bold step toward their goals.
